An Illinois school district recently showcased new, healthy additions to its school menus during a public food-tasting event for families. The event offered an opportunity for students to try the healthier fare before the first day of school. Attendees sampled dishes, such as turkey meatball soup, poached chicken sliders, grilled zucchini chips and toasted chickpeas.
Students then were asked to complete surveys about the dishes.
