Youths with type 1 diabetes who used insulin pumps had fewer episodes of low blood glucose levels and lower admission rates for diabetic ketoacidosis than those who received insulin injections, an Australian study in the journal Diabetologia showed. Researchers found, however, that 38 of the 345 2- to 19-year-olds who used the pump in the study stopped doing so at some point, saying they got tired of managing the device.
