In an effort to boost its efforts to find asteroids that could potentially hit Earth, NASA may reactivate a hibernating space telescope. The Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer was first launched in late 2009 to take pictures for an all-sky map and look for asteroids and comets. It found about 150 near-Earth asteroids before it was retired in 2011.
