Entergy's effort to secure a water-use permit from New York state plays a key role in the relicensing of the company's Indian Point plant, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission said. Entergy seeks to install a new water filter system on the bottom of the Hudson River for cooling purposes as part of its strategy to secure such a permit. "We expect to be able to obtain the necessary permits if wedge-wire screens are selected, including any easements needed for use of the water bottoms," said Entergy spokesman Jim Steets.
