Environmental Protection Agency official Janet McCabe will likely be named the head of the agency's clean-air office, a post vacated by Gina McCarthy's elevation to agency chief. The role is expected to prove vital in coming months as the EPA seeks to regulate power-plant emissions and other forms of carbon pollution. "While McCarthy will be the public face of the new climate-change regulations, McCabe will act as her right-hand woman," writes Coral Davenport.
