Obesity among older adults is increasing, adding to their risk of chronic disease and potentially affecting their quality of life, according to registered dietitians. RD Ruth Frechman says these clients need personalized diet plans that allow for gradual weight loss, and RD Laura Newton recommends 2½ hours of moderate-intensity exercise and 2 hours of strength training each week to help prevent muscle loss.
