Popeyes' parent AFC Enterprises posted a positive second quarter, with 4.3% growth in same-store sales driven in part by Popeyes' opening of 29 U.S. units and continuing "brand-building efforts abroad," the company announced Thursday. "This continuing trend reflects our selection of superior sites and the extent to which our brand-building efforts have created pent-up demand for Popeyes in new and under-penetrated markets," CEO Cheryl Bachelder said.
