Jennifer Lawler, a middle-school language arts teacher from Ohio, recently participated in the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Summer Teacher Institute at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. The training focused on educational uses of primary-source documents, such as the 13th Amendment, which Lawler said still had a crease in it from after it was signed. Lawler, who called the experience "game changing cool because it was so awesome," this fall will teach her students lessons she created while in D.C. about Samuel Clemens, his character and stories of Tom Sawyer.
