A survey of 1,058 14- to 20-year-olds revealed that 41% of girls and 37% boys said they were victims of abuse during dating, while about one-third of both girls and boys reported being perpetrators of such abuse. Another study involving 625 youths showed that slapping, hitting and biting romantic partners were common among about 10% of those who had dated. The studies were presented at the American Psychological Association meeting.
