California's state Senate has passed a resolution encouraging companies to include more women on their corporate boards. State Sen. Hanna-Beth Jackson, D-Santa Barbara, who authored the resolution, described it as a "symbolic show of support" for equality. "The pipeline of qualified women is bursting with potential women candidates," said Betsy Berkhemer-Credaire, who serves on the board of NAWBO's California chapter. "The roadblock is the lack of open seats."
