The AICPA's Financial Reporting Framework for Small- and Medium-Sized Entities is helpful not only for small businesses that do not need to file financial statements based on U.S. generally accepted accounting principles, but for their lenders as well. The framework gives lenders a transparent view of what assets the business owns, how creditworthy the business is, its debt and its cash flow. The AICPA is working to raise awareness among bankers on the framework's advantages. For more information, a free copy of the framework and many other free resources, visit the AICPA's website.
