Some small businesses in New York state are devoting more time to managing their online reputations as customers flock to review sites such as Yelp and Angie's List, writes Ernie Garcia. The public relations firms that serve them have also shifted. "Where it used to be 100% media relations, it's now 50% media relations and the other 50% is engaging in local conversations, especially for my local clients," said Dawn Dankner-Rosen of DDR Public Relations in Pleasantville, N.Y.
