The State University of New York's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering is investing in the future of smart cities, and acquired for the purpose Albany's Kiernan Plaza to help achieve its purpose. Work will include research in sensors, smart devices and computer chips that can monitor and analyze data about infrastructure. "The transformation of Kiernan Plaza into the Smart Cities Technology Innovation Center will provide an innovative platform enabling groundbreaking research, education, and workforce training for emerging smart cities technologies," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.
