Marriott International President and CEO Arne Sorenson attributes the decline in the hotel firm's group business during the second quarter to planners' "tentativeness" in making group meetings, as well as cautious spending by corporations. However, Marriott expects group to strengthen over the rest of the year. "It is not systemic. It is not long term. It is a short-term dynamic, we think," Sorenson said.
