SpaceX's Falcon 9 program successfully tested its Grasshopper rocket, which Tuesday flew up 820 feet while moving sideways 328 feet, then returned to the center of its launchpad, according to company officials. The divert test is an important step toward showing how the rocket can ultimately re-enter Earth's atmosphere at hypersonic velocity.
