"Two and a half D" printing is the description for a new type of embossing that reproduces images for the blind to feel. The process developed by Baoxin Li, a professor of computer science and engineering at Arizona State University, can be executed with a special embosser that punctures paper to produce the raised images or with a type of "swell paper" where the lines of an image swell when heated.
