A multicenter European study found patients with mild to moderate strokes who got intravenous tissue plasminogen activator within 90 minutes suffered little or no disability, compared with patients who did not get the treatment until 90 to 270 minutes after the event. The study from Helsinki University Central Hospital, published in the journal Stroke, did not find an association between ultra-early thrombolysis and mortality.
