The need to fit in with neighbors is the most common motivation for keeping manicured lawns in Ohio, versus other landscaping options, according to a study done by Ohio State University's College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The study found that 61% of 432 homeowners surveyed cited the need to conform with neighbors as their reason for maintaining lawns. Respondents also listed looks and recreational use as their favorite features of their landscapes.
