A study in Health Affairs revealed that electronic communication between patients and doctors could enhance patient satisfaction and care, but researchers noted that steps must be taken to address the impact on physician workload. "Communicating with patients is extra work that makes some doctors feel that their day can never end," said Dr. Tara Bishop, lead author of the study and an assistant professor of public health and medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College.
