Listening to music files over Apple iTunes is on the decline while downloading free applications has risen from 28% to 35% for users on the site, according to an NPD Group survey. Music accounts for 41% of user downloads, down from 54% last year. "It will be interesting to see the extent to which music re-establishes dominance, when iTunes Radio launches later this year," NPD's Russ Crupnick says.
