The University of Pennsylvania Law School hopes to help students more thoroughly understand the intersection of technology and legal issues as part of a new initiative. Students will be able to enroll in a program to earn a J.D. as well as a master's in engineering. "In patents, copyright, media and Internet regulation, privacy and national security, and many other areas, today's problems are almost always more than just legal problems and require substantive understanding of how the technology works," said law dean Michael Fitts.
