US Rep. Sander Levin, D-Mich., will spend three days in Bangladesh, touring garment factories and talking with workers, industry leaders and government officials to assess progress in the industry's efforts to make factories safer. Earlier this summer, the US suspended Bangladesh’s trade benefits under the Generalized System of Preferences after two factory disasters that killed more than 1,200 people; in July, the Obama administration offered the industry an action plan aimed at helping the country win back the benefits.
