The Department of Veterans Affairs has requested Kiewit-Turner to provide proof that its hospital project in Aurora, Colo., will actually cost more than $1 billion. The VA alleges the contractor was partially responsible for signing off on cost estimates, but Kiewit-Turner has requested that it be allowed to stop work on the project, claiming the VA breached its contract. Originally slated to open by this summer, completion of the 200-bed hospital has been pushed back to 2015.
