Primary care physicians and organizations like AAFP must push for the reforms in the health care system that will emphasize the patient-centered medical home model, according to a panel at the AAFP Scientific Assembly. "If you want the (insurers) and Congress to pay for this model and reimburse primary care, you've got to start with patients and explain to them why it is so important," said Marci Nielsen of the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative in Washington.
