Hotel companies are surging into cities such as Lagos, Cairo and Nairobi to add more hotels and meet the growing needs of the country. "There’s a growing demand in those capital cities because they are the centers of business, of government and of commerce — all of which have hospitality needs," said Patrick Fitzgibbon, a Hilton executive covering the continent. His company has 17 hotels in the pipeline, while Carlson Rezidor has 12 new deals for hotel development this year.
