The AICPA has sent a letter to the ranking minority members and chairmen of the House and Senate appropriations committees in which it urges Congress to provide the Internal Revenue Service with sufficient funds to perform its mission. The letter lists a number of negative consequences that could occur if the IRS is not properly funded, including longer wait times on both the phone and for responses to written queries, and the inability to properly inform taxpayers and the tax adviser community of changes in tax regulations.
