Advanced Micro Devices will begin sending its 64-bit "Seattle" processors, based on ARM Holdings designs, to server manufacturers to sample in in the first quarter of next year, according to AMD's Lisa Su. "When our ARM chips start sampling, [the servers] will be [among] the first few 64-bit machines out there," she said. Servers with those chips are expected to hit the market in the second half of 2014.
