The automobile industry may prove a definitive boost to HTML5-based Web applications over native applications with its growing need for in-car applications that can work in multiple models, writes Abalta Technologies CEO Michael O'Shea. HTML5 apps offer far more flexibility for carmakers in terms of updates and keeping up with the introduction of new consumer devices than native apps can, and in-car app user interfaces don't need to be complex since that would distract the driver.
