BASF will invest $42.6 million in a polyurethane blending plant at its complex in Geismar, La., which will result in 167 direct and indirect jobs, along with as many as 175 construction jobs. The plant is expected to make BASF's supply chain more efficient and is scheduled to come online in the second quarter of 2015. Natural gas is "facilitating an economic renaissance for manufacturing in the United States," noted BASF Senior Vice President Tom Yura, who's also the general manager of the Geismar complex.
