Secretary of State John Kerry and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel pressed their case for a military strike against Syria before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday while facing questions about what the mission would accomplish. "Our military objectives in Syria would be to hold the Assad regime accountable, degrade its ability to carry out these kinds of attacks and deter it from further use of chemical weapons," Hagel told the panel. Debate on the issue is expected to last through the week.
