Beginning this school year, nutrition professionals in a California district say more meals will be made from scratch because of a cafeteria remodel that allows schools to stop serving processed food reheated in cafeterias. This year, the district will serve fresh lunches, followed by breakfasts the following year. Also, there are plans for schools to grow their own produce on campus starting in the 2015-16 school year.
