Seven students created a schoolwide celebration of Mexican arts and culture at New Technology High School in Napa, Calif., to honor Mexico's Independence Day. The event included traditional Mexican food for lunch along with dancing and singing performances. One of the students, Sandra Correa-Saenz, said she was inspired by one of her teachers, Napa Valley Unified School District board member Carlos Hagedorn, who she said taught her it is "OK to be Mexican in an American community."
