Prescription drug spending in the U.S. will rise by an average of 6.5% annually from 2015 to 2022 following last year's 0.8% decrease, according to forecasts from the CMS Office of the Actuary to be published in the journal Health Affairs. The projected growth is down from the 8.6% annual increases recorded from 2000 to 2009. Out-of-pocket costs will drop as more people gain access to coverage, the report said.
