Travel agents should be prepared for the occasional request from prospective clients for proof of their authenticity, writes John Frenaye, who recounts a recent experience. He solved the problem by recommending a call to a supplier -- a solution that may not be feasible for all agencies. "I am fortunate that I have a small niche and deal personally with a limited number of suppliers. I am not so sure this would work if they called Royal Caribbean or Apple Vacations. And that, to me poses a problem for many non-storefront agencies," Frenaye writes.
