Sharad Gadhia, a Grade 10 student at Queen Elizabeth High School in Calgary, Alberta, recently wrote an e-mail to Alberta Education Minister Jeff Johnson to express his concerns about the overcrowded classes at his school. Gadhia wrote about classes with as many as 49 students, many of whom have to share desks and sit on stools. "Situations like this don't help a student learn, instead they set up our students for failure," Gadhia wrote in response to a newspaper interview in which the Canadian official said he wanted to hear about cases of overcrowding in schools.
