Delta Air Lines plans to offer nonstop service from Raleigh-Durham, N.C., to Paris. "The Research Triangle is an important market for Delta, and our new Paris flight is the latest in a series of Delta investments in the region, both at the airport and in the community," said Bob Somers, vice president of global sales for Delta. The carrier also plans to ramp up service from New York City to Israel.
Delta Air Lines plans to announce third-quarter results on Thursday. Analysts say the carrier should post strong operational performance for the quarter. Analysts predict earnings per share of $1.18 for Delta.
Delta Air Lines has raised ticket prices on most domestic trips by $4 to $10, round-trip. The fare increase has been matched by United Airlines, American and its merger partner US Airways, as well as Alaska Airlines on some routes codeshared with Delta. JetBlue and Southwest Airlines have not yet joined the increase. This is the 12th attempt at increasing airfares this year, only three of which have stuck; last year, seven of 15 attempts stuck.
Delta Air Lines is concentrating on Seattle by boosting international service at Seattle Tacoma International Airport. "We'll continue to grow the market into a preferred international gateway," said Anthony Black, spokesman for Delta.
Delta Air Lines has appointed Mike Medeiros as head of its operations in Seattle. The carrier has recently expanded operations at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Medeiros previously served as vice president of global human resources and talent development for Delta.
