Kevin O'Connor, co-founder of advertising business DoubleClick, is using the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations statute to fight what he considers to be a patent troll that targeted his new company. O'Connor isn't the first person to try to use the RICO Act, which is designed to fight organized crime, in this fashion -- a previous, unrelated lawsuit involving a RICO claim was dropped. O'Connor has dedicated $1 million of his own money to battling the case.
