The Federal Aviation Administration says the number of general aviation aircraft in service may not return to its pre-2007 level until 2024. The FAA expects that hours flown this year on piston-driven single-engine planes will be about 11.3 million, compared to 13.6 million in 2007. The number of hours flown in aircraft with turbine-driven jet engines should be higher this year than it was in 2007.
