Legislation was introduced Thursday by House lawmakers that would give the FDA authority to oversee large compounding pharmacies. The measure includes steps to ensure that the FDA takes action when state pharmacy boards raise concerns. "For the last several weeks, a bipartisan and bicameral group of lawmakers have been meeting to make sure we never relive the tragedy of the 2012 fungal meningitis outbreak that originated in a compounding pharmacy in Massachusetts," said Rep. Gene Green, D-Texas.
