If current trends continue, nine of the 74 countries participating in the Countdown to 2015 movement will meet reduced mortality rate targets for children younger than 5 years by 2035, a study showed. In the best-case scenario, in which all countries matched the progress made by the best-performing countries, 15 countries would be able to reach the Millennium Development Goals by 2035. The findings appear in the journal The Lancet.
