Ford Motor, seeking compatibility with mobile applications from other automakers, says it has acquired Livio, a developer of software that can link to navigation and infotainment systems. Ford, which plans to combine its own Sync AppLink platform with Livio Connect, said the deal would enable it to import talented engineers at a time when those skills are in high demand. Separately, Sprint and Canada's Rogers Communications plan to deliver broadband services to connected cars in that country by 2015 through the carrier's Sprint Velocity platform.
