Franchising has become a growing trend among older Americans and the number of franchises owned by people at least 55 years old has jumped by 40% since 2007, according to the Franchise Business Review. Older Americans want to "control their own destiny and go into business for themselves but not by themselves. They see franchising as a great way to do that," said Matt Haller, spokesman for the IFA, whose June expo attendees older than 50 accounted for 28% of all 18,000.
