Qatar Holdings will invest several million pounds to refurbish Harrods, the luxury London department store it bought for about $2.4 billion in 2010, a project that will include a new seven-floor escalator and a chandelier designed by American glass sculptor Dale Chihuly. Harrods, which began in 1849 as a small tea shop, has become a Knightsbridge landmark that attracts more than 15 million visitors annually.
