A draft was released by HHS to curb adverse drug events such as overdoses and medication errors. The National Action Plan for Adverse Drug Event Prevention aims to align federal health agency efforts to lessen patient harms across the country and recognize common, measurable, preventable and clinically relevant ADEs. The efforts will initially concentrate on opioids, diabetes agents and anticoagulants. Comments on the draft will be accepted until Oct. 3.
