Hillshire Brands CEO Sean Connolly says he is "incredibly pleased" with the company's progress after a spinoff from Sara Lee in June 2012, despite reduced sales and operating income in its fiscal fourth quarter. Though "the vast majority" of products contain meat, he says, there is focus on broadening Hillshire's product range to include vegetarian items and products made with poultry, such as the Aidells line of sausages and meatballs.
