Data experts at The Lodging Conference said hotel performance has improved, with average daily rate in August reaching a 12-month-moving-average of $109.20 -- a new peak. However, some numbers are less encouraging, such as the weak 2.4% rise in U.S. hotel demand in July on a 12-month moving average. Hotel demand has also been declining in Brazil, Russia, India and China since 2010, which could pose problems for hotel firms that have developed heavily in these countries.
