Progress on U.S. immigration reform may be threatened as Reps. John Carter, R-Texas, and Sam Johnson, R-Texas, recently left a bipartisan House group tasked with handling the issue. The announcement comes just after Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., said a reform bill is unlikely "anytime soon." Carter and Johnson pointed to selective law enforcement by the Obama administration as their reason for leaving, while Gutierrez said the process is hampered by limited support from Republican House leadership.
