Achieving a sense of work-life balance is important for women leaders, but it's not the only challenge they face, writes Sarah Green. Numerous institutional obstacles can make it tough for women to climb the corporate ladder. Women don't receive the same degree of sponsorship as their male peers, and they are sometimes penalized for displaying certain leadership traits, she writes. "[W]hen women display leadership behaviors we consider normative in men, we see them as unfeminine," she writes. "When women act more feminine, we don't see them as leaders."
