Archaeologists are deploying LiDAR and GPS surveying methods to see ancient buildings in a Mayan city in an area between Belize and Guatemala. The researchers used LiDAR to scan through the dense forest canopy in order to spot structures that were previously undetected. Anabel Ford, one of the researchers, said the technology is "a game-changer for archaeology in tropical areas."
