The average duration of untreated psychosis among 14- to 35-year-olds who were diagnosed with psychosis before age 18 was 179 days compared with 81 days in patients with adult-onset psychosis, U.K. researchers found. Other independent risk factors for delayed treatment were ethnicity and cannabis use, according to the study in the journal Schizophrenia Research.
